we knew it: crazy socks fans are more creative & competent
We’re not usually the kind to brag, but some recent research has confirmed something we’ve suspected all along: People who wear fun and crazy socks are generally perceived as being awesome.
Are all you sock lovers out there nodding in agreement right now? We thought so. Let us break this down.
Harvard researchers looked into the issue of conformity and how people are perceived when they don’t conform to certain standards, such as dressing traditionally in certain settings. The study authors called it the “red sneakers effect,” concluding that when people see someone confidently rocking a pair of red sneakers in an environment where dress shoes might be more appropriate, they see that person as being creative and cool.
Socks for Women
“Under certain conditions, non-conforming behaviors can be more beneficial to someone than simply trying to fit in,” the authors wrote. “In other words, when it looks deliberate, a person can appear to have a higher status and sense of competency.”
This sounds a little familiar, doesn’t it? What do you think of when you see someone else wearing wild socks that they clearly love and took the time to boldly add to their outfit? We think: “That person has got it going on!”
Socks for Men
That’s precisely what we love about great socks; they give us the opportunity to add an extra dose of awesomeness to our daily lives! Further research has even shown that what we wear can boost our mood and creativity, and all of us who wear fun socks can certainly attest to that! When you get a smile on your face each time you glance down at your feet, you’re going to go about your day more confidently!
